Socialisation

Inky, Pinky and Ponky came to anc at around midnight. They all occupied a table and started talking about something which all of them had in common, after a while inky wanted a coffee. So did pinky. So they both went to nescafe outlet and ordered two coffees. The guy gave only one coffee and forgot the other one. So now inky felt that pinky there is sitting alone and it does not really look good. So he went to the table and joined him.

The point I am trying to make from the small gesture inky made above is that how we view loneliness or to say a person seating alone. More or less a person sitting alone at redi, sky or cannought place is treated with expressions of pity or even shock at times. Mostly people cancel going to sky or redi just because they don't have company. My question is that after all
what exactly is so important about this company or how addictive it is, that we can't even survive a barely hour with our naked selves? why do we need someone or a group just to pass time? After all what do you seek from company? entertainment and nothing else since you don't have any of your thoughts and you can't possibly deal with yourselves for an hour and with those people giving you disgusted looks, pity faces. Putting it in more modern term, you feel like a loser. I think things are becoming too messy here. I shall put forward how exactly I view loneliness. For me, a person who does not really need other people is at a higher level than the rest. He is just independent. There are few reasons:

1) It is only possible in a case where he has found out his dream in life and what he wants to do for rest of his life (all my respects and envious looks if you fall in this category)

2) He has realised the whole concept of socialisation is big fart and I should be doing better things or leading my battle on my own.

To say from personal experience, in last four months I had my lonely times and there were times when I had to socialise just for sake of some old friends and there were times when I felt needy. There were some days when it was all too peaceful and it felt too independent but than sadly the feeling never lasted. Still it does not last. The point I am trying to make is from last few lines is that I have been viewing group activites, people hanging out quite differently. You are not really doing it because it's good to make new friends or you just like to talk about yesterday's twenty twenty match. It is all because you are jobless and you are too dependent and it is time we start respecting people who can put up on their own and fight their battles without anyone knowing about it. I am sure they don't care about what you think but it is time we look upto them and change our defintion of idols a bit.

It is quite possible that what I said above dint really make a lot of sense to you. There are two reasons for that, one being it is all too messy and it sucks. Second one is that you aint good enough to understand. The later one is more probable.

I agree completely. @ Pilani, groups get together for no rhyme or reason. And you are identified by the group. Oh Tapan Controlz wala, people force you into loosing your unique identity.

Nice to see you standing up and saying you won't be one of them.

Point to be noted:

Inky Pinky Ponky idea is ripped directly from Amey's post

Well I can't say much about the idea... I'm not used to having company.

But about the post, yes seating alone in ANC is nothing to be pitied and a barely one hour can be survived without company.

PS : Chate has competition.

Awesome post, Tapan!! I totally agree. It is something that we observe all around us and yet nobody talks about it. The way most people view this isssue is lame and we gotta change it. I totally respect people who are independant and don't always hover with fixed groups.

Why do u think being alone makes u independent??....u just cant sit alone...u will need a coffee//ur comp/newspaper/a thought...so it's all about company...u may not have material company as such...but u do need comapny all the time...huh...what am i saying??
